MISSION OF NOIR BOOK REVIEWS:
To bring awareness to the multitude of authors and issues of the diaspora while encouraging readers to expand their selections and include authors from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
To promote diversity in literature and texts used in classrooms, educational settings and academia.
General Information
Noir Book Reviews specializes in literary reviews & promotion of adult, young adult, middle grades & children’s books by African, African-American, Caribbean, Afro-Latino & Native American authors or featuring those characters. I am interested in reading and reviewing historical fiction, non-fiction, international fiction and memoirs.
I am currently accepting several genres for review. I accept print ARCs, finished copies, and ebooks (preferred). If the book is a part of a series, then I may need the previous books. I accept self-published books and indie press books as well.

What You Can Expect
I will write a review for almost every book I finish on Goodreads. Many reviews will also be posted on Noir Book Reviews though not all and they may be modified.
My reviews are not meant to be objective literary critiques. Some will be, but mostly I write reviews keeping in mind the world-building, the characters and their relationships, the author’s writing style, and the emotions the book made me feel.
I write fair and honest reviews, but this does not mean I will always write positive reviews. My reviews are my opinion, and if I don’t enjoy a book then my review will reflect that.
With that said, I strive to explain why the book in question did not work for me personally. I do NOT write nasty or snarky commentary about the author.
If I do not finish a book I may write an explanation on Goodreads. These explanations are different from standard reviews and will state that I did not finish the book, what page I read up to, why I did not finish, and if I plan on ever picking up the book again.
Turnaround Time
I try to review the books in a timely manner, but I am not always able to do it as soon as the sender would like. For ARC’s with a release date, in most cases I will try to publish the review on the release date, or very close to it. For already released books I will review them in a matter of 1 – 3 months, unless I have agreed to do it sooner. If I accept a book as part of a blog tour, I will post a review on the agreed upon date.
